As well as an instant messaging service, ICQ offers a free text messaging service that works worldwide.
You need to register and enter details of the person you want to text in the address book before you can text them, but the service is free and recipients don’t have to have an ICQ account – just a mobile phone.
This site currently works for phones in Australia (Vodafone), Canada (Bell), Israel (Pelephone, Cellcom, Orange) and Singapore (SingTel).
